Today, half the world is obese or overweight and Type 2 Diabetes is predicted to increase by 50% over the next 15-20 years costing countries billions of dollars in healthcare.
At a landmark event this May… the 'Eat For Keeps' initiative tackled these issues head on.
'Eat for Keeps' has provided a way forward in solving these big problems.
At the event, 50 people shared some of their stories on how they have collectively lost over 700 kg’s and kept it off through the EFK approach.
We heard many inspiring stories from people like paraplegic Tony Christiansen, who has taken control of his diabetes losing over 15 kg’s. Other stories we heard were the emotional journey Lorenzo Pakuriahas has made to lose 54 kg's... regaining his life and family back.
The EFK initiative is more than about helping people take control of their weight and health… it is about providing a workable solution against obesity and the potentially crippling effects of diabetes on our economy.
EFK is also helping the food industry to make change… by leading the way with a 'ground-breaking' range of scientifically tested sustaining and 'diabetic friendly' cafe food.
These are specially designed pre-mixes that have been developed to lower the 'blood-sugar impact' on typically high GI products such as muffins, scones and white breads. This means they are slower digesting... and will keep you fuller for longer, avoiding those blood sugar spikes.
By empowering people with knowledge and influencing the food industry, the EFK team is making long-term positive change possible.
Thanks for all those who have supported the EFK initiatives… and to the many inspiring people that have shared their personal stories.
